Moving Changes You Might Not Think About During COVID-19

We all know that moving can be a stressful thing, but moving during a global pandemic like COVID-19? The stress might seem to be at an all-time high. The coronavirus has changed a lot in our country like the closing of schools, postponing events, and altering the state of business. However, if you’re further along in the process of relocating, there might not be much else you can do besides continuing on (unless your counties are under a shelter-in-place order!) If you’re not though, this moving experience is going to be quite different than your last and you’ll need to be ready to adjust.

Here are some tips on how to prepare for a move during this time of uncertainty!

Know your moving company’s plan!

In the rise of these events, some smaller businesses have unfortunately closed for the time being due to social distancing or not enough income to keep everything running as normal. However, there are companies out there that have adjusted their routines to accommodate with the ever-changing pandemic. As an Atlas Agent, our plan is to continue to work closely with our clients to mitigate the risks associated with the outbreak and will continue to follow industry guidelines and best practices in interacting with the public and the handling of our customers’ belongings, ensuring the necessary steps and precautions are taken. We will continue to approach this situation with an abundance of caution and concern for the communities in which we serve.

Cleaning might be a little different

With the push towards social distancing, it might be hard to let a cleaning crew inside your home. And the lack of supplies in certain areas right now, make it a bit difficult to do it yourself. You’ll want to take whatever you can find and save it to use when you move!

Have Wifi set up early, if possible

Now, possibly more than ever, we’re relying on our internet connection to be functioning properly. Remote education, working from home, streaming, and staying connected to what’s going on in the outside world, can’t happen without proper wifi. Providers are doing the best that they can to help customers, but it’s good to get an appointment scheduled with them as early as you can.

Familiarize yourself with the healthcare/grocery options

Knowing where your local hospital is, updating your pharmacy information, and locating the closest grocery store are all things you’re going to need to do pre-move. If something happened, or you happened to come down with a virus, these places will be important to know how to get to and will be open even if there is a shelter-in-place order.

The last thing anyone could have predicted was an outbreak like the current one we’re seeing with COVID-19. So chances are, you were already in the process of planning your move.
